A History of Excellence

Beaumont Hospital, Troy, opened in 1977 to meet the needs of residents in Oakland and Macomb counties. The hospital’s service area has experienced tremendous growth in population, resulting in a remarkable increase per year in hospital admissions since 2000.  As a result, the hospital ranks first for inpatient admissions in metropolitan Detroit for a hospital of its size, and fourth in the nation.

In 2007 Beaumont, Troy, celebrated its 30th anniversary with plans for a $141 million expansion project, including expansions of the Pediatric unit and addition of a Neonatal Intensive Care unit.

Children’s services at Beaumont, Troy, include

  • 13-bed pediatric unit that admitted more than 1,600 patients in 2008
  • 24-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit that treats high-risk, premature newborns of 28 weeks gestation or more.
  • Special care nursery equipped to handle needs of low-risk newborns.
  • Patient- and family-friendly “play-yard” atmosphere, including comfortable rocking chairs and sleep chairs so parents can spend the night with their child.
  • Pediatric observation program that provides easier transition for your child from the emergency room to the inpatient room.
  • Access to 227 board-certified general pediatricians, 83 pediatric medical and surgical subspecialists, and all of the services that have earned Beaumont Hospitals the designation “Most Preferred Hospital in Southeast Michigan” by the National Research Corporation
