Cochlear Implant Program

Cochler Implant Program

The Cochlear Implant Program offers rehabilitation services for children and their families before and after a cochlear implant procedure.

The goal of our program is to provide coordination between surgeons, audiologists, speech and language pathologists and educators to help children develop their new communication skills. A variety of services are offered.

These services include:

  • Preconditioning skills prior to implant surgery
  • Expanding oral communication skills
  • Individual treatment sessions with parent/family training
  • Group treatment programs
  • Providing "one-on-one" treatment incorporating auditory training and speech production. Auditory training focuses on improving skills for auditory awareness and listening, auditory detection, discrimination, processing and comprehension. These skills move from isolated sound to word to conversational levels of understanding.
