Senior Lecture Series - Personal Protection

Safety City U.S.A. partnered with Credit Union One to provide senior citizens with information focusing on prevention of identity theft and how to avoid becoming victims of scam artists who prey on senior citizens.

The senior lecture series will be offered upon request for groups of 15 or more.

AARP Senior Driving Safety Program

Partnering with AARP-trained volunteer educators, this course is the nation's first and largest classroom refresher for motorists age 50 and older. The objectives of this course are to understand the effects of aging on driving, learn driving strategies that take into account the changes seniors experience with aging, identify the most common crash situations that seniors face, reduce the chance of having a crash, update knowledge and understanding of today's roads, vehicles and other road users, and identifying when driving may no longer be safe.

This program will be offered three to four times a year at Safety City U.S.A.

NFPA Fire and Fall Prevention Program for Older Adults

The NFPA's Center for High-Risk Outreach is committed tohelping communities reduce fire and fall injuries and deaths among older adults. Trained through an NFPA educational grant awarded to Safety City U.S.A., Royal Oak Fire and Beaumont Home Health Care personnel were specially trained at a conference held in December, 2007, to train their peers to disseminate the prevention content of this program to seniors through home visits, education in our facility, and senior center gatherings throughout the Metropolitan Detroit area.
