Parenting a child with special needs and understanding the best ways for them to achieve school success can be a daunting task. That is why Beaumont’s Center for Children’s Rehabilitation has designed a one-day program to offer the latest insight and tips for making the school experience the best it can be.
As the holiday gift-giving season approaches, Beaumont Children’s Hospital’s Center for Children’s Rehabilitation and the West Bloomfield Township Public Library have partnered to offer “Toys that Teach” on Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. The community education program is for parents, caregivers and grandparents. There is no charge to attend this evening program.
Through a partnership with the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center, Beaumont Hospital, Grosse Pointe will introduced the Project Healthy Schools program to sixth-graders at Tyrone Elementary School in Harper Woods. The 12-week program promotes healthy lifestyles by encouraging better food choices and more physical activity.
Metro Detroit residents will join more than 4,000 participants in more than 40 cities as part of the annual Torch Relay event to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, an international nonprofit organization that raises funds for children’s hospitals like Beaumont Children’s Hospital. Detroit’s three-mile walk takes place at the Detroit Riverfront on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 1 p.m. It begins at Rivard Plaza.
