This group is designed for 8-10 children between the ages of 4 and 12 years. A professional martial arts instructor specializing in children with special needs and a physical therapist or occupational therapist will lead the program. Children should be able to follow directions. This group uses Karate as a medium to deliver therapeutic exercise to children with special needs. The goals of this group are to increase strength, improve active range of motion and balance, and encourage weight shifting. This program can also improve breath support, increase sequencing and memory skills, improve visual perceptual skills and increase attention in a fun group setting.
