Beaumont Hospital's Center for Human Development tutoring program was developed as part of the Center's multi-disciplinary approach to the treatment of learning disorders. In existence for 35 years, the program is designed to address the specific needs of individuals with concerns such as learning and attention disorders, organizational difficulties or anything else that might affect a person's ability to learn in traditional ways.
Instruction is provided by experienced, caring, well-trained professionals who strive to create a supportive, success-oriented learning experience for each student. Using an individualized, multi-disciplinary approach to learning, our tutors assist each student in the identification of personal learning styles. Our tutors then introduce effective academic and performance strategies designed to strengthen or by-pass learning weaknesses and to maximize a student's academic potential and performance. To ensure a positive, therapeutic learning experience, each student is assigned his or her own tutor who provides personalized private instruction.
Instruction is provided in the following areas:
Tutorial sessions are 60 minutes in length and are held once or twice a week, depending on the needs of the student.
Afternoon, evening and Saturday appointments are available during the school year. Beaumont's Center for Human Development also has an nine-week summer session with Monday through Friday appointments scheduled.
