Beau was found in the trunk of a royal oak tree. No one knows where he came from or who his parents were, but, luckily for all of us, he ended up at Beaumont.
One night, a nurse on the midnight shift spotted the tiny cub as she was on her way to work, so she picked him up and took him with her to the hospital.
Now, as you can imagine, this bear was so darling and cuddly that the entire staff fell in love with him and so they decided to let him grow up in the hospital.
From his caring mothers and fathers - Beaumont nurses and doctors and staff - Beau learned about all the things sick children need. That's why he grew up to be...the most caring bear in the world.
Today, Beau cares for all of the children at Beaumont Children's Hospital. He welcomes them when they come to the hospital, comforts them when they are sick and sadly (and happily) waves goodbye to them when they go home.
Beau is the essence of what a Children's Hospital should be - compassionate, hospitable and friendly!
